| Breaking News |  | Monday, September 1st, 1980: Williams League Selects #1 Starter in August
Elroy Taylor's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 4-1 in August, the 36-year-old New Glarus hurler has been named Williams League Pitcher of the Month.
He fanned 54 in 43.1 innings, logged an ERA of 1.04 and allowed opponents to hit .179 against him.
In 27 starts this season Taylor has chalked up a 13-9 record and a 3.37 ERA.

 | Monday, September 1st, 1980: Great Week for New Glarus's Mike Barringer
His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Mike Barringer was rewarded with the Williams League Player of the Week honors.
The scrappy New Glarus Brewmasters third baseman hit .524 while collecting 11 hits in 21 at-bats, 2 home runs and 8 RBIs.
To date this season Barringer is hitting .293 with 21 home runs.

 | Sunday, August 24th, 1980: League Suspends Becker and Lee for Brawl
You would have thought you were at a hockey game yesterday at Kachemak Bay. A free-for-all broke out when Joe Becker of Homer and Adam Lee of New Glarus rushed one another on the field and had to be restrained by umpires and teammates. Few blows landed, but it was enough for them to be ejected from the game.
Today both teams received notification from the league office that the two players would be suspended for 6 games.
In the current season, Becker has put up a .258 batting average with 118 hits, 37 home runs, 90 RBI and scored 84 runs.
So far this year Lee has 5 wins and 14 losses and a 4.52 ERA.
