| Breaking News | | Thursday, September 25th, 1980: Orchard Park Beats Latrobe 7-2, Valdéz Ks 16 It was a very special game for Ángel Valdéz today at Rich Field in Orchard Park. He had the perfect delivery. The good fastball. The nasty curve. The batters mumbling and muttering when they swung and missed. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it. In an unforgettable performance the 25-year-old Valdéz fanned 16 strikeouts Lightning and sparked the Orchard Park Blizzard to a 7-2 victory over Latrobe.
His catcher commented, "I don't think I have seen him throw better. His location and command were really something."
In addition to his 16 strikeouts, Johnson allowed 4 hits and 2 walks in a superlative outing.
His manager added, "It's a manager's day off when you get pitching like that."
The Latrobe skipper had no comment that was printable in the newspaper.

Latrobe's Alfonso Breton had a very special day against the Aztecs when everything came together for him and he did just that -- collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats -- and led the Latrobe Lightning to a 13-3 win at 33 Field.
"I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Breton said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats today. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em."
A. Breton singled in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off J. Richards in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off S. Ramírez in the 9th.
