Roy Jacobs, the Bowie Knives 23-year-old center fielder, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for Mays League Player of the Week honors.
He ripped 13 hits in 31 at-bats, compiling a .419 average with 2 home runs and 9 RBIs.
Thus far this season Jacobs is hitting .297 with 5 home runs, 28 RBIs and 36 runs scored. He has 63 hits in 212 at-bats and has played in 52 games. |  | Wednesday, May 25th, 1977: Quiñones 5-6 for Moo All game long Superior's Francisco Quiñones was rattling the walls at Port Clark and banging out base hits against the Bowie Knives. When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 5-hit day and the Moo had a 13-12 victory.
Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 23-year-old right fielder said, "Get 5 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this."
F. Quiñones hit an RBI double in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
