| Breaking News |  | Sunday, June 5th, 1977: Takasuye Gets Number 2000 Chattooga's Kunihiko Takasuye got the standing ovation -- but the Mexico City Aztecs got the win. It was a special day for him at Eagle's Nest. A day when Takasuye notched hit #2000 of his career. The fans went wild when he did. Even the Aztecs fans applauded.
The Eagles left fielder went 2-5 in a losing cause as Mexico City spoiled the party with the 6-4 victory. In the postgame interview, a downhearted Takasuye told the media, "We lost -- It's not about individual accomplishments -- we lost."
When pressed further, he admitted his pride in reaching the 2000-hit mark, "A lot of great players never get there. I'm proud, but I would be happier if we had won."
In his career Takasuye has hit for a .295 average and totaled 2001 hits, 224 home runs and 962 RBIs. |  | Sunday, June 5th, 1977: Chattooga's Gatti Asked for Trade. Fact or Fiction? In the latest churning of the rumor mill, reports indicate that 36-year-old reliever Brice Gatti of the Chattooga Eagles could be on the trading block. While the player refused to comment, the team did not outright deny the claims. "If it'll help this team, we'll make a move," said one team official. |  | Monday, May 9th, 1977: Campfield Week's Top Player Veteran William Campfield had a great week at the plate for the Eagles to capture the majority of votes for Player of the Week in the Mays League.
The 34-year-old Chattooga catcher built a .435 average on the strength of 10 hits in 23 at-bats, 3 home runs and 8 RBIs.
