Sunday, June 5th, 1977: Takasuye Gets Number 2000
Chattooga's Kunihiko Takasuye got the standing ovation -- but the Mexico City Aztecs got the win.
It was a special day for him at Eagle's Nest. A day when Takasuye notched hit #2000 of his career. The fans went wild when he did. Even the Aztecs fans applauded.

The Eagles left fielder went 2-5 in a losing cause as Mexico City spoiled the party with the 6-4 victory.
In the postgame interview, a downhearted Takasuye told the media, "We lost -- It's not about individual accomplishments -- we lost."

When pressed further, he admitted his pride in reaching the 2000-hit mark, "A lot of great players never get there. I'm proud, but I would be happier if we had won."

In his career Takasuye has hit for a .295 average and totaled 2001 hits, 224 home runs and 962 RBIs.
Tuesday, May 24th, 1977: Hit Parade: Lopez Pops 5 Hits
New Glarus first baseman Horacio Lopez put on quite a show at Green County Stadium with a big 5-hit day in the 9-3 victory over the Mexico City Aztecs.

In the postgame interview, he said with a smile, "Not a bad day at the plate... 5-5... wish I could do this more often. It would do wonders for my batting average... and my salary, too."

H. Lopez hit a solo-shot off F. Sanchez in the 2nd, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.

So far this year Lopez is batting .308 with 5 home runs, 26 RBIs and 18 runs scored.
Wednesday, May 18th, 1977: Davis Slams 5 Hits for Mexico City
"It was almost like batting practice. I saw the ball very well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted." That's what Mexico City first baseman Gregory Davis said to BNN reporters after his fantastic 5-6 day against the Latrobe Lightning at Medicine Hat Park. "I got some good counts and used the whole field."

The Aztecs had a good day, too, and won the ballgame 14-4.

G. Davis hit an RBI double in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off M. Mccartney in the 9th.
