His teammates, fans, peers and even the BNN sportswriters all agreed that Juvel Muņoz was worthy of the Williams League Player of the Week Award.
During the week the Purcellville third baseman compiled a .632 batting average (12-19) with 2 home runs, 4 runs batted in and scored 3 runs.
So far this season Muņoz has 5 home runs and a .331 batting average. |
 | Monday, May 16th, 1977: Ostlund Wins WL Best Player Award
His hard work paid off this week. The hardworking John Ostlund was rewarded with the Williams League Player of the Week honors.
The scrappy Purcellville Peacocks catcher hit .524 while collecting 11 hits in 21 at-bats, 3 home runs and 6 RBIs.
So far this season Ostlund is hitting .336 with 7 home runs. |
 | Sunday, May 1st, 1977: Cribb Awarded April's WL Top Bat Prize
Roscoe Cribb battered Williams League pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.
"I've been around Backyard Baseball League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 36-year-old Cribb told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I may not take the field and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."
In 27 games, Cribb hit .362 with 11 home runs, 29 RBIs and scored 16 runs.
