| Breaking News |  | Sunday, June 5th, 1977: Moo Guthrie Hurt A blow for Keith Guthrie today -- team doctors confirmed he will miss 1-2 weeks with a strained back muscle. Guthrie suffered the injury throwing a pitch. Although officials from the Superior Moo are confident he'll make a full recovery, doubts will persist about Guthrie's ability to return fully fit with an injury of this nature.
This year Guthrie has a 3-5 mark in 12 starts with a 4.00 ERA. He has given up 78 hits in 69.2 innings, struck out 67 and issued 13 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .282 batting average against him. |  | Tuesday, May 31st, 1977: Quiñones Suffers Career-Ending Injury Francisco Quiñones, the Moo 23-year-old right fielder, suffered a serious injury making a defensive play during yesterday's game at Port Clark between Superior and St. Boni. It now has been confirmed that he suffered a torn back muscle. Indeed, the injury likely has ended Quiñones's baseball career.
So far this season Quiñones is batting .273 with 1 home run, 19 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He has 54 hits in 198 at-bats, 13 walks and a .329 OBP. Quiñones has played in 53 games. |  | Wednesday, May 25th, 1977: Quiñones 5-6 for Moo All game long Superior's Francisco Quiñones was rattling the walls at Port Clark and banging out base hits against the Bowie Knives. When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 5-hit day and the Moo had a 13-12 victory.
Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 23-year-old right fielder said, "Get 5 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this."
F. Quiñones hit an RBI double in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
