George Lanza earned May's Rookie of the Month honors in the Williams League for last month's performance. The boyish Texas third baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.
Lanza hit .283 with 4 home runs, 15 RBIs and 14 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.
In 51 games this season Lanza has batted at a .284 pace with 52 hits and 6 home runs. |
 | Monday, May 9th, 1977: Dye out of Lineup 3 Weeks
Thomas Dye and the Texas Timewarp got a bad break in today's game against the Bulls as the team confirmed he will miss 3 weeks with a torn thigh muscle. The Timewarp left fielder suffered the injury running the bases. The team doctor is confident he'll make a full recovery.
This year Dye has hit at a .270 clip with 8 RBIs, no home runs and 14 runs scored.

"I felt great out there. After the second or third inning, I got real comfortable," Rogelio Monroy said in his postgame interview. "Hopefully this is a building block for me. I'm hoping for a few more starts like this."
The Texas hurler scored a 5-0 shutout victory over the Peacocks, stopping them on 1 hit. He rung up 13 strikeouts and gave up 3 walks in today's performance.
