I looked through the Player Reference, as well as every leader in batting and pitching at each position, and found only a few outstanding players who aren't already in the HoF. If you have a nominee, please post them and I'll update this list.
- Kelvin Stalker, 2B - Leads second basemen in career AVG, Hits, and Runs
- Shane Wilkin, C - Leads catchers in career HR, RBI, and Hits.
- Rob Keating, OF - 8-time all-star, 9th in career home runs, 8th in
career OPS, 11th in career stolen bases, #2 among RF in career OPS,
home runs, and stolen bases
- Ernesto Orta, SS - 5-time all-star, former league MVP and gold glove
winner (excellent range, but usually too many errors), 11th in career
hits, 9th in career runs scored, leads all SS in career total bases
- Jordan Shenk, SS - 7-time all-star, former league MVP, top hitter,
and 2-time gold glove winner, 16th in career OPS, 9th in career stolen
bases (but 4th in career caught stealing), #1 in career doubles, #2 in
career triples, 16th in career hits, 12th in career runs scored, #3
among shortstops in career OPS (behind Coffman and Proulx)
Wow, that list is really short. Looking through the in-game retired list in the Almanac, I just didn't see a lot of folks who's career can come close to stacking up to
those already in the HoF. (Apologies for linking to G's site, but I don't have the Player Reference and can't find that tool.)
Please feel free to add to this list!
Thanks Jarien, I meant to include Shenk in the first place.
