        Isn't McNeese Cold's franchise player?

He was, but Cold is ownerless now, so I'm not sure that should mean anything at this point. A new owner would not be stuck with a previous owner's franchisee, so I don't think the CPU should either really.

That shouldn't matter, right? I don't think we should allow owners to trade with a CPU-controlled team, the AI is still very exploitable in trades. And in my opinion, franchised players should still remain franchised players when a new owner takes control.

This wasn't a case of a player trading with the CPU. I approved the trade and completed it in game. If players perform trades in game it screws the rosters up.

Still, I can't say i'm thrilled about the idea of allowing a trade between a player and a team not controlled by a person, especially using the argument that the team is no longer owned by person, therefore their franchise player no longer counts as franchised player. Maybe that's just me, though, I would like to hear what others think about it.

Re: Vienna and Cold make a deal

I can understand cases where a "franchise player" label shouldn't be revoked because a owner left a team stranded.  However, I believe this particular trade is fair.  Cold recieved a better player in Bautista that is signed for the same amount of years as McNeese.  The trade was approved by Emrysx, and I certainly think it's fair for Cold.  I also made a trade with Cold that was approved by Emrysx, which was another trade I thought was very fair to Cold.  I'm sure many saw the details of the trade in league news.  With both trades being approved by Emerysx, and not a large objection from multiple team owners, I think the trades are fine.

Re: Vienna and Cold make a deal

i'm of the general opinion that there should be no trading allowed with CPU controlled franchises.  We've never really had this issue in the past.  With our previous empty teams, they were either on autopilot, or more recently, we've had owners taking on 2nd teams (St. Paul and Texas).

I don't think we should nix these particular trades, but I'd be in favor of not allowing it in the future unless there is a human controlling the team.  I also don't particularly agree with removing McNeese' franchise label, but again.. willing to overlook it in this case.

Re: Vienna and Cold make a deal

Yeah, there is no trading with the CPU. It has to go through me. In effect, the CPU controls the day-to-day operations, and I control trades with the CPU controlled team. Basically, I'm in effect controlling the team for trades, just not roster management.

If people get trade requests from the CPU, let me know and I'll see if it makes sense. If you get an in game message for a trade, I'll look at it and determine if it's fair. I've got the AI trading level set to Hard, or Very Hard, can't remember which, so it shouldn't be too much of a push over in any event.

I see no reason why the CPU controlled team shouldn't try to better itself, as that's only fair for the next owner.

Re: Vienna and Cold make a deal

Just to throw in my side...

I honestly had no idea that Cold was CPU controlled team until after the trade. I recieved the offer in game and thought it was pretty good trade. Didn't really even think that it was a CPU initiated trade (and didn't start wondering how the manager initiated a trade in game as when I'd try it would say "not the commish" and disallow it. I guess the CPU-team isn't thus restricted.) Anyhow, so I sent emryxs the details and I also CC'd the email listed as the Cold manager on the manager list. Silly me. But, I thought it was human controlled. Oh well, now I know better and would likely have refrained from such a trade had I known. Now that it's done, I guess it just needs to stay since it's already been a couple sims with the new teams.

Regardless, I do think the trade was fairly even. Cold getting a front-line #1 starter type for a good OF who hasn't really ever played up to his potential (IMO).
