I know we aren't using coaches, but we are using scouts. Coaches and scouts, in OOTP9, can be former players, and you can even view their stats, etc from their profile.
Right now I'm setting all scouts to 7 out of 10 (equal to Good as we had it in 6.5), with a salary of $160k, which is what scouts with those ratings seem to go for. Keep in mind that there is a scouting budget in the game of $2m (dunno if that's fixed or not yet), but the basic idea is that you have control over your head scout, and he has a staff under him (that we don't see).
You have control over how that scouting budget is allocated (at some point in the year, but not at the moment it seems).
I'm also setting scouts to 10 year contracts, but I'm sure they'll retire at some point. Also, I'm sure former players pop up as scouts and coaches. I'm thinking that since scouts all have the same contract and ratings, if folks see a scout they'd like to swap for, they can.
Wouldn't it be cool for one of your favorite former players to pop up on the available personnel list?
This leads me to wondering if we should bring coaches back as well, if for no other reason than to allow us to pick up former players as coaches. Who wouldn't want Leonard "Half" Nelson or Daniel McAlpin as their hitting coach!?
Just thinking aloud. Thoughts are welcome.
