Not sure I did this right...

I used the in game draft thingy as suggested and I slotted the players in the 24 slots in the first round in the order I would like them.  I don't have a second round pick so I left that blank and by the time the third and fourth round roll around it probably won't matter much.

I think you should still fill in all rounds since if it is automated when it reaches your blank rounds it'll stop the whole process. It's pretty easy to just go to rnd 3+ and then have your scout auto-fill in the selection tree. Takes a minute or two at most.

I wish I understood what that draft screen meant. What are all the ands and ors for?

I think either in an email or on the front page (or both) I posted a a link to the online manual for OOTP9 that explains it.

    Ah here it is.

Re: Not sure I did this right...

ok, question about the draft lists..  I pulled this quote from the OOTP site.

Each list is used, by default, in one specific round of the draft

So I created and sent in a list for Round 1.  Does that mean that when we go to round 2, I won't have anyone selected?  What happens if someone I like for round 1 drops to round 2 unexpectedly?  Do I need to duplicate my round 1 draft list in round 2?  Seems like an odd way of doing it.  I was hoping that players in my list for round one that were unpicked would get priority over any round 2 list.

    help?

Yeah it's a bit weird. It'd be be nice if the auto thing used the scouts as well, but it doesn't appear to do that because it always puts the guys my scout hates at the top. Is there no way to do this thing online?

Re: Not sure I did this right...

yeah, i experimented with having "scouts pick" the 2nd round list.  It was HORRIBLE.  The guy on the top of the list was a 1/2 star prospect, and i think my scout's take on him was "batting practice pitcher".  WTF.  And there were much better guys farther back.

So i don't understand at all what's going on there.  I personally prefer being able to look at who's gone at any particular pick/round and be flexible in my drafting.

Re: Not sure I did this right...

I agree.  Moreover, I found discrepancies between my scout's ratings per the draft pool list., and my scout's rating in in a particular player's scouting report.

Example: Josh Goldsmith is rated as a 3 star on the draft pool listing, and a 1.5 star in the scouting report.

I think you're seeing the fact that the scouting report on the draft pool page is dynamic, whereas the dated scouting report on the character page is static and happened sometime in the past.

I'd wager that if you asked your scout to scout any given player in the pool now, you'd end up with what you see star-wise on the draft pool page.

Granted, since we can't sim without finishing the draft, that's not really possible, but you could do it after the draft is done if you wanted.

No, there isn't, because nothing online will be able to dynamically change scouting reports based on your team.

I know there's some confusion right now, as to be expected with a new scouting system, but I'm loving the fact that we're all seeing different ratings, and who knows if our highly rated picks will boom or bust.

In retrospect, previous drafts with no scouts were seriously boring, since everyone knew exactly what they were (or were not) getting.

Re: Not sure I did this right...

If my scout is wrong and this is a good draft class, I'm going to make sure the door knob hits him square in the nuts on the way out the door.  FIRED!
