  • Divisional Structure and Playoffs

    2 leagues, each with 3 divisions, and 4 teams in each division. The three Divisional Winners, and the team with the best record who wasn't a divisional winner (the Wildcard) advance to the playoffs. First is the Divisional Series (best of 5 games), then the League Championship Series (best of 7 games), finally the World Series (best of 7 games).

    The active roster is limited to 25 players, expanding to 40 players in September. In the postseason the active roster is again limited to 25 players.
